Signs of Miscarriage
Miscarriage or spontaneous abortion is defined as the abrupt interruption of pregnancy by natural causes, and usually occurs within the first twenty weeks of pregnancy when the fetus is not yet able to survive outside the womb.
Unfortunately, miscarriages are very common, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. About 20% of pregnancies end in abortion detected spontaneous. But experts say that in fact up to 50% of pregnancies end in abortion, because in some cases women do not even realize she was pregnant.
Most commonly it is due to a chromosomal abnormality of the fetus, caused by a faulty egg or sperm. Chromosomal abnormalities increase with age and therefore women over 35 years are at increased risk of spontaneous abortion.
Other factors may also have incidence, including infections, other diseases in women: poorly controlled diabetes, lupus erythematosus, or thyroid disease.
The warning signs of miscarriage are the following:
- vaginal bleeding
- abdominal pain
- spasms
- fever
- weakness
- vomiting
- back pain
- dizziness
While most women may experience these symptoms during the first months of pregnancy and may not be running the risk of abortion, should also go to the physician in case of distrust, especially if there is significant bleeding.
